LCR-Reader Update; Colibri

After a full year of availability, the LCR-Reader from Siborg Systems Inc. is getting an update. The newer model, the LCR-Reader Colibri.

The Colibri offers the same high basic accuracy of 1% and features as the LCR-Reader with fully automatic measurements. The main difference between the two models, is the ability to change the test frequency manually. Unlike the LCR-Reader which only the test mode is changed when the button is pressed; the Colibri cycles through the modes with different frequency selection. IE: Automatic, L, 1kHz (default), 100 Hz, 10kHz, C, 1kHz, 100 Hz, 10kHz, etc. The device is also able to be reset by holding the button down for a few seconds.  The Colibri also comes with precision tips; slightly sharper gold-plated tips that allow for a more focused grasp on components.

Siborg Systems Inc. Releases LCR-Reader; Sale Until October 31, 2013

Siborg Systems Inc. has released the LCR-Reader, the newest model in the line of Smart Tweezers LCR-meter. The new device is half the weight and size of previous models; it is now available for a special introductory price until October 31st, 2013. To order, follow the LCR-Reader Sale link.

Before its release, the LCR-Reader was showing variations while trying to achieve the 1% basic accuracy. This problem was fixed by using a Calibration Fixture to calibrate each unit to the desired values.

“We are every happy with the new device. Customer satisfaction is our main priority,” says Michael Obrecht, the Director of Research and Development at Siborg Systems, “Therefore we took additional measures to ensure high measurement accuracy of the LCR-Reader before we start mass production of this model. Basic accuracy of 1% was our target and we eventually have been able to achieve it.”

The LCR-Reader is the newest model in the Smart Tweezers line of LCR-meters and is the first to debut the new design with half the weight and nearly half the size of previous models at 1 oz. A new high-contrast display shows all the measurement values and test parameters instantly after evaluation.

Features on the device include;

-Automatic Inductance, Resistance, Capacitance, and Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) measurements
-Component identification
-1% Basic accuracy
-Ergonomic, one-handed design, now only 1 oz.
-One button navigation
-Automatically selected test frequency
-Test signal amplitude of 0.5Vrms
-Li-Ion battery with micro_-USB charging (cable not included)

Siborg Systems Inc. wanted to create a device with a lower price than previous Smart Tweezers models, making it more affordable to a wider range of users. Instead of the higher price of Smart Tweezers ST-5, around $500 USD, LCR-Reader retails for less than $200 USD. This was made possible by omitting some features, including the diode and continuity testing, component sorting with variable tolerances, and the semi-automatic offset subtraction. By simplifying the device to the best of what Smart Tweezers has to offer, the LCR-Reader was able to achieve a lower price.

The Smart Tweezers Comparison Table now features the LCR-Reader, showing a side-by-side view of the specifications on each model.
