The LCR-Reader MPB is a versatile digital multimeter from Siborg Systems Inc. that offers a record-high 0.1% basic accuracy and an extensive set of functions, including AC/DC voltage and current measurements, oscilloscope mode, diode and LED testing, frequency measurement, super-large capacitance testing, signal generation, continuity/open testing, and more.
The LCR-Reader MPB combines precision tweezer probes with a professional-grade, benchtop-quality LCR/ESR meter capable of automatically identifying the component type, selecting optimal test parameters, and performing measurements with 0.1% basic accuracy. Measurement results—including the main impedance value, secondary parameters such as ESR, Q, or D, component type, and test conditions—are instantly displayed on a bright backlit LCD. Weighing only 1.3 oz (36 g), the MPB is compact, lightweight, and ideal for fieldwork.
The MPB offers a wide range of test modes and features, including LED and diode testing, AC/DC voltage measurement, short/continuity testing, frequency and duty cycle measurement, signal generation (sine, triangle, and rectangular waveforms), pulse counting, and more. One of its most attractive features is the ability to operate at a 250 kHz test frequency, enabling measurement resolutions down to 0.001 pF for capacitance and 0.1 nH for inductance.
Four test signal levels are available—0.1 V, 0.1, 0.5 V, and 1 Vrms. Testing at 1 Vrms is particularly valuable for achieving accurate measurements of ceramic capacitors. The source resistance can be set to 100 or 500 Ohms, optimizing accuracy across small resistances and inductances or large capacitances. The LED test voltage has also been increased to 3.2 V.
The oscilloscope mode is designed for observing voltage waveforms on active circuit boards at frequencies up to 100 kHz. When used with the Kelvin Probe Connector, the MPB functions as a low-frequency probe station, allowing waveform testing at multiple PCB nodes.
